!!! P I N K !!!

And there will be lots of it!  We are having a BABY GIRL!  It is really so hard to believe, and sometimes I really think that a penis may appear in our next ultrasound.  But until that happens, we are celebrating a DAUGHTER!

On Christmas morning, we had Joshua's parents, Tasha and Frank over for the big reveal.  We also had my mom, stepdad and sister, Cherie' on skype so they could witness the whole thing and find out with us.  Kyle was taking a shower!!  My friend, Nicole brought us eight cupcakes that she had baked, one for each person (the boys were included!).  Half were decorated with blue icing and half with pink, but only ONE cupcake revealed the gender of the baby in the inside.... either pink or blue!   We all picked a cupcake, unwrapped it and bit into it at the same time.  First I heard Joshua say, "It's not me!".  Then I looked hard at mine and said the same.  Finally, Tasha gasped and quickly turned her cupcake around for everyone to see... PINK!!!  I immediately started crying and Joshua gave me a huge hug and a kiss.  I was totally expecting to see blue.  For weeks, I had been picturing the cupcake in my mind and all I could see there was blue.  I was totally shocked!  A little GIRL!  I still cannot believe it.  It was such a wonderful surprise; and now that we know what we are expecting, we are even more eager to meet our little angel.

Our daughter's name will be...

MARIGNY ADELINE BREAUX

For my readers who are unfamiliar with The Marigny in New Orleans (a popular neighborhood/subdistrict), the name is pronounced "MARE-IN-EE", the "g" is silent.  She is being named after my great grandmother, Marian Adeline Vinterella.

When I was pregnant with Everett and didn't know the gender yet, my friend, Cali gave me a shirt hat she owned which says "Marigny", just in case it was a girl.  It has been our girl name for years now, and we are so excited to finally get to use it!

The day before we found out the gender, Beckham told me, "Mommy, you look like Marigny with that pink flower in your hair."  Perhaps he knew all along... LOL.

POLL CLOSED!  Results: 7 votes for BOY and 14 votes for GIRL.

I will be posting again soon with Christmas and New Years pics and others from Gene and Donna's visit!

The Eve of Christmas Eve!

Tonight is the eve of Christmas Eve and after today, I will have sooooo much to write about so I need to catch up from my last post before the night is over!

My youngest brother, Kyle came to stay with us for a week, and the boys were so excited to see him! Everett immediately started yelling "Kyle!" over and over again, and never stopped through his entire visit. Beckham had a great time waking Uncle Kyle up every morning.... or should I say afternoon... and as soon as Beckham would wake up, he would start asking if he could wake up Uncle Kyle too. Every day, the boys would pull off every book from their bookshelf and bring it to Kyle to read, and he would read them all to them. I knew the boys wouldn't want him to leave; and sure enough, as soon as we dropped him off at the airport, Beckham asked if Uncle Kyle was going to be at our house when we got there. Here are some pics from Kyle's visit!

While Kyle was in town, we met up at a park with Frank and Tasha. Unfortunately the weather was cloudy and rainy during most of Kyle's visit, but we did get a teeny bit of sunshine.

So of course we took the boys to sit on Santa's lap. Beckham was totally excited and couldn't wait to tell Santa what he wanted. As soon as he sat on Santa's lap, he explained that he wanted a Spiderman scooter. Everett, on the other hand, was not so happy to see Santa or "CoCo Ca" as he calls him. He screamed so hard that he was shaking! The picture says it all! A few days later, our housing office had Santa visit so Beckham got to sit on his lap again. This time he asked for a Spiderman scooter for himself and a red scooter for his brother. So sweet of him! We brought Everett to say hello to Santa, but he was still terrified so we didn't torture the poor kid again. We haven't picked that photo up yet so unfortunately I don't have it to post.

I didn't get to do all of the Christmas crafts I wanted to with the boys. With Kyle coming to town, me having endless migraines and the boys getting sick, it just didn't get done. Good thing Christmas comes every year! They did do a couple though, and they made several cards for people this month.  Joshua made the reindeers with them!

As I mentioned above, the boys have been pretty darn sick. During Kyle's stay, he and Joshua actually had to bring Everett to the Emergency Room at 2am because poor Evie caught the croup. It was so bad that not even the steam from the shower, a breathing treatment or the cool night air was able to help him. He was struggling to breathe and needed to be seen right away. Over the next few days, he was doing much better; but then he suddenly started screaming - all - of - the - time - and all night too. During this time, Beckham's mild cold became much worse and he began complaining of an earache. Both boys ended up not sleeping at all during the night, but finally found some relief after visiting the doctor yesterday. Finally! - after a rough start with Beckham, they both slept through the night! The were both given inhalers and antibiotics, and Becks now has some numbing medicine for his ear along with a special soap and lotion to treat the skin on his back which is currently very dry. The doctor was concerned about Everett's breathing and that he has been vomiting often from coughing so she wants to get him checked for asthma once he gets over his current cold. She was also concerned about Beckham's large tonsils and that he snores at night and may possibly have sleep apnea so she is referring him to an ear, nose and throat doctor. Oh and Everett weighed 24 lbs and Beckham was 27 lbs. They are only 3 lbs apart now!

You know, I have really been impressed with the cartoons that Beckham watches. He is learning so much! Because of shows like Mickey Mouse and Curious George, Beckham can tell you about gravity and outer space. He will tell you about how he doesn't float away from the earth because gravity is holding him down, and how there is no gravity in outer space. And thanks to Little Einsteins, Beckham is not only familiar with specific classical music songs, but he can also tell you that Mozart, Beethoven, and Strauss make the music, and that Van Gogh was a painter who painted sunflowers and snow (Starry Night). Little Einsteins has even taught him about different parts of the world. He still talks about the Eiffel Tower and how it is so big and that it is in Paris, France. And now he can also tell you that there are pyramids in Egypt. And because of Curious George, he finally covers his mouth when he coughs! I have been trying to get him to do this forever; but after watching the episode of George getting sick and fighting off the bad germs, he now understands why it is so important for him to cover his mouth in order to prevent spreading the bad germs to other people. I am so proud of my little man for knowing so much... and thank God he didn't get his memory and comprehension from me!

It's that time again... time for some quotes from Beckham!

*I asked Beckham how he was going to open all of the gifts under the tree, and he explained, "I'm gonna open them one at a time."

*Beckham was outside pointing at him bedroom window saying, "You see my bedroom right there? That's where my top bunk is... and my light... where I play... when I'm being naughty."

*I asked Beckham, "Do you want to go wake up Uncle Kyle?" Beckham: "Yeah... but his hair is gonna be funny." Me: "You're funny." Beckham: "I'm not funny. Uncle Kyle is funny."

*Beckham told me. "I want some pancakes to eat with a fork because a fork goes with pancakes. And I want to watch that show that we watched earlier with the cat who tells Felt (Bolt) to go away. So... can you make me some pancakes, please? Can you?"

*I wrapped all Christmas gifts while the boys were napping one day, and when Beckham woke up and saw them, he said "I can't even believe it! There are Christmas things under the Christmas tree!"

*I was singing a song to Beckham and he told me, "Hey, don't sing that song." And when I asked him why, he explained, "Because you don't sing that good."

*Kyle asked Beckham if he liked waking him up, and Beckham told him "When I wake you up, your hair is funny.  So I close the door so I don't see you."

Everett is growing up. My baby is growing up. I'm quite sad about this. Well first, he is getting so tall! He can now reach the top of the counters and so he pulls anything off that he can reach. You know, this kid is an explorer. I have mentioned before that he is a digger and a climber, and pretty much, he is always trying to get his sticky hands on something. He has been taking all of the ornaments off of the tree (Beckham calls them light bulbs, by the way) and he tries to run off with the gifts. He has even tore the paper on two of them. And now that Everett opens doors, he is always trying to sneak into the bathroom to steal the toilet brush or Beckham's potty seat.

Everett has also reached "The Tantrum Phase" of his life. It was not that long ago that Beckham went through this, and I was really hoping that Everett would skip over it, but nope, it's here. Tantrums. You know, he throws himself on the ground and rolls around while screaming. And he does this for no apparent reason. I'm just hoping this phase doesn't last as long as it did for Beckham!

Everett is so cute with his raspy voice. He plays "This Little Piggy" with himself and even tickles himself. As I mentioned, he calls Santa Claus "Coco Ca" and he also calls a snowman "Mowman". And he's so cute when he tries to count on his fingers. We also sing his name to him in the rhythm of "Mello Yello", but we say "Evie Wevie", and he sings it too but he says "Owie Owie". His favorite song to sing is still The Mardi Gras Mambo in which he says "Mambo mambo mambo mambo... cool cat... blow horn...". And the song that still quiets him down when he's crying is... Behind Blue Eyes.

Baby Breaux #3

I will be 16 weeks on Christmas day which is only 2 days away! The baby is growing and I'm feeling it more and more. The movements are so strong now and I even feel them throughout the day instead of just in the evening or at night. Last Sunday, December 18th, we had an ultrasound at 15 weeks so we got to see our little Junebug! He/she was moving around like crazy, sucking its thumb, yawning, waving and even rolling over. We had Kyle, Tasha, Frank and the kids at the ultrasound and Frank was able to get a short video. It was the last couple minutes and the baby wasn't moving as much at that time, but the video is still so fun for me to watch. When Beckham saw the baby on the big screen, he said "That's the baby we gettin'!". Haha! We were able to find out the gender, and the ultrasound tech saw it right away... as soon as she turned on the machine, she said "Don't open your eyes. I'm writing it down right now!". She typed it onto a picture of the baby's "parts" and sealed it away in an envelope so we still do not know what the baby is! We will be finding out on Christmas day with our family so we, of course, cannot wait! The baby's heartbeat was 145bpm which of course doesn't tell us anything about the gender. Both of my boys had high heart rates (above 140) so I can't go by the old wives tale that high heart rates mean a girl. Maybe for me, a low heart rate means girl. :-P

On Wednesday, December 21st, I had my regular appointment with my doctor. The baby's heart rate at this appt was 144bpm and I was measuring right where I should be. I weighed in at 114lbs which means I gained 1 pound since my last visit. My doctor wasn't concerned at all and was happy that I at least gained. During that visit, I got the forms to set up my 20 week ultrasound which will be in the middle of next month! I can't wait to see my bebe again!

So how have I been feeling... ? Well... not good! Most of the morning sickness has seemed to disappear as of this week. Last week, I was still struggling with it, but this week I only seemed to get sick right when I woke up if I didn't eat right away. So this is not what has been keeping me feeling bad. What's had me down is headaches and migraines! They are endless. Literally. I wake up with it, go to bed with it, wake up at night to pee with it. It's always there, for about four weeks now. Sometimes it is only a headache and sometimes it is a full flown migraine where I'm not sure that I can function. The only thing that has been able to ease the pain is putting a cold water bottle against my head. My doctor gave me a prescription but told me to only use it if I absolutely need to which scares me from using it at all. I was already afraid of taking a prescription during pregnancy and then he goes and says that. So I'm just trying to live through them at this point. I'm also still having a lot of round ligament pain, along with some sharp pains "down there" which I didn't feel until I was about 25 weeks with my other pregnancies. So far, the second trimester hasn't been the honeymoon that I was hoping for, but at least there's a beautiful baby waiting for me at the end of it all.

And now I'll close this post with our family Christmas pics!  I had Frank shoot the ones of the whole family for us and then I edited them.  Team work!
